The ABC's of kindergarten...

A
Absences: If your child is absent from school please call the office before 9:00am. (406) 281-6213
Allergies: If your child has allergies to food or other things please inform the office, nurse, and myself.

B
Bus: If your child rides a bus, please see Mrs. Noland in the office to be sure you are signed up for the correct bus route number.
Blog: This is our classroom blog where I will update you on things we are learning, things to work on at home, project we’ve done, or important updates.
Birthdays: birthdays are important to young children and fun to celebrate at school! The children are allowed to bring a treat for all to share. Your child will be able to bring invitations to pass out as long as everyone in the class is invited to avoid hurt feelings. We don’t like anyone to feel left out in kindergarten.

C
Conferences: In November we will have Parent Teacher conferences. You will have a schedule time to meet with me and hear all about your wonderful child!

D
Dress: Be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather (especially in winter!) and activities. Your child must wear tennis shoes to music and PE. Without tennis shoes your child may be asked to sit out for safety reasons.

E
Envelope: All important documents, notes, and lunch money should come to school in an envelope with your child’s first and last name on it.

F
Folders: Communication folders will go home every day and are expected back each morning. It has two sides (Keep at home/Return to school) to organize all the papers that I will be sending home. Please check the folder every night, Thank you!

G
Gym: Students will have a physical education call each Thursday.  Your child will need to wear tennis shoes in order to participate. A good idea is to always keep a pair of tennis shoes in his/her backpack.

H
Handbooks: Elementary handbooks will come home to each family during the first weeks of school. I ask that you sign and return the appropriate forms as soon as you’ve read through them all. Thank you!
Homework: I will be sending home one worksheet (front&back) of homework for you to complete with your child each week. This is not required that you return the homework. It is simply a guide on what to work on each week with your child.

I
Independence: In kindergarten students will work towards independent behaviors both academically and socially.

J
Joy: We take pride in our students at Meadowlark Elementary. We want the students to have a feeling of JOY when they arrive in the morning and when they leave at the end of the day.

K
Kindness: The students at Meadowlark will participate in our Respect and Manners program. We have a manner of the week and really practice kindness and compassion in our everyday routines.

L
Library: Library books are due back every Monday.
Lunch: We have a computerized lunch charge account system. You may deposit money in your child’s account by sending a check to school, or taking it down to the commons yourself. When the account’s balance is low we will send home a note.
Labels:  Label anything important that your child brings to school. (Especially coats, SNOW PANTS, mittens, etc.)

M
Menu: Each month we will send home a hot lunch menu. It is also linked on the top of this blog in the navigation bar.
Manners: At Meadowlark we do a manner of the week. Respect and manners are very important to the staff and students.

N
Newsletter: Each month I will be sending home a calendar with important dates and short snippets of news from the classroom. For a more detailed list of things we are learning with pictures keep checking out this blog!

O
Orders: Each month I will be sending home book orders. This is totally optional. Orders can be made online (our class code is MFK6Q) or by sending a check and order form back to school.

Q
Questions: If you ever have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.

R
Reading: Children become readers on the laps of their parents. It is so important to read often with your children.
Remind101: This year I am going to use Remind101. It is a way that I can remind parents about upcoming field trips, when there is an early out or no school, when forms/book orders are due back, etc.

S
Snack: Each student is responsible for bringing two things for snack EACH quarter. We ask that it is peanut free due to food allergies, thank you.

T
Teachers: The kindergarten teachers here are awesome and we are truly a team! We all strive to provide the best education for all students.

U
Unique: Everyone is unique and we like to celebrate that!

V
Visitors: anytime you come to visit your student, like to eat lunch with him/her, you must sign in at the main office.

W
Welcome: Welcome to Meadowlark Elementary, but more importantly welcome to KINDERGARTEN!

-I’ve got nothing J-

Y
You: You, the parents, make a difference, as you are your child’s first and most important teacher. Thank you for entrusting me with your children this upcoming school year!

Z

ZzZZzZzz: It is important that your child get a good night’s rest. The beginning of the school year is especially draining for kindergartners.

I am looking forward to a great year in kindergarten with all your little kiddos!
